Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position Summary:Illumina is expanding its reach into the clinical market with its innovative next generation sequencing platforms and assays and attracting partners across the industry.  We are seeking a talented Alliance Manager to manage key strategic partnerships that are critical to expanding the reach of sequencing into clinical and research markets. The Alliance Manager will be responsible for managing the partnership lifecycle including deal stages, partnership implementation, the formation of and leadership of implementation team, creation of joint working team and governance growing structure, strategic alignment, overall partnership health and transforming business relationships. Key Tasks and Responsibilities:Manages the day-to-day operating activities with assigned partnersLeads implementation teams while working internally with key stakeholders to meet milestones and deliverables according to the partnership agreementMonitors results against key performance indicators and maintain tools for internal and external communication about alliance’s goals and progressPlans and coordinates contractual implementation activities between the internal project team and external partner stakeholdersAdministers the governance structure of the relationshipAssesses alliance health and works to strengthen individual and organizational relationships between the companiesSeeks to understand cultural similarities and differences between organizations and uses the knowledge to improve working mechanisms between teamsServes as the primary point of communication for partners and facilitates efficient and effective communication with the partnerManages all aspects of the partner lifecycleEnsures partner needs are communicated internally and addressed appropriatelyIdentifies areas of discordant expectations between organizations and works to resolve themEscalates internal or external issues that could damage partnership health or cause a missed milestone/deliverable to ensure resolutionNegotiates statements of work and associated budgets and timelines in collaboration with Business Development, Legal, and FinancePartners with key stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, identify new ideas for partnership expansion opportunities, and initiatives that drive alliancesDisseminates key learnings and best practices to foster continuous improvement in Illumina’s partnering capabilitiesOther duties as assignedRequirements:Has strong listening and speaking skills, as well as the ability to communicate at all levels of an organization internally and externallyThrives in a collaborative work environment, where interacting effectively with peers, functional managers and senior leadership will drive successCan align needs of internal and external stakeholders to create winning situations for all partiesHas a demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically about partnershipsIncorporates highly effective organizational skills and planning ability into alliance workEffectively champions partners’ needs and can maintain steady engagement in the partnership’s objectives over multiple yearsAbility to navigate a rapidly changing environment to ensure long-term partnership successIs willing to travel up to 15% of timeEducation/Experience:Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.Majority of experience in Alliance Management, externally facing Project Management, or other related experience with significant partnering responsibilities.  Certification such as CA-AM or CSAP, and/or PMP is desired.Industry experience with Next Generation Sequencing or  equivalent experience in regulated industries is desiredThe estimated base salary range for the Senior Alliance Manager role based in the United States of America is: $105,600 - $158,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
