Job Description:This requisition is for a Software Licensing Contracts Negotiator in the PPSC organization. This is an exciting time to be part of the licensing team as we are experiencing significant shifts in both printing and computing causing a greater reliance on external software solutions. Our platforms are becoming more open allowing more sources of revenue and diversifying our portfolio into Software as a Service and cloud-based solutions. The Software Licensing Team's role is to source, negotiate, and secure licensing rights to third-party intellectual property for the use in HP's products, services, and solutions. We are software sourcing experts, providing a range of services tailored to the engagement and business segment, including...supplier evaluation & selection, contract negotiation and execution, and cost optimization.Responsibilities: Handles routine contract requests by using standard template and drafting alternative responses with review by senior team membersManage engagements through supplier selection, contract development & execution, and risk mitigationAssure that the rights, limitations and obligations negotiated align with the HP business unit's requirements and objectivesFollows Software Sourcing Lifecycle as a framework for completing contracts and meeting HP sourcing requirementsPerforms work in alignment with overall priorities of DPA software functionAble to find/recommend solutions within project constraints (scope, schedule, resources)Maintain accurate and timely data in all procurement systems according to established processes and practicesManages the contracting process by working with stakeholders to draft and negotiate appropriate contractual language to reflect the business interestInterfaces with business units, legal, HPDC, finance, and other relevant organizations to bring contract to closureLead the review and approval process to ensure all parties align on negotiations points prior to contract signatureComplies with audit, financial, and system requirements and assists in resolving post0execution contract modification requests and disputesPerforms risk analysis, including developing and communicating creative solutions to resolve. Highlights key negotiation points and works to resolve and draft language reflective of HP's interests and policiesBuilds strong internal and external networksActs as trusted advisor to senior business and legal leaders in assigned areas of responsibilityManages the contract administration for this functionEducation and Experience Required: First level university degree required.Typically 2-5 years of customer facing contracts, negotiation, or equivalent experience.Advanced university degree (e.g., MBA, JD/Law) preferredKnowledge and Skills: Intermediate knowledge of key laws, policies, processes, and practices applicable to closing non- standard contractsIntermediate understanding of technology products, service offerings, and capabilitiesKnowledge of key business and contractual risksDemonstrated negotiation skillsCapable of influencing different functions and build consensusCapable of presenting or escalating issues effectively to business executivesCritical Competencies to Drive Business Results:Ensures that contracts are prepared accurately and in a timely fashion to finalize dealsDevelops procurement plans cognizant of forecast requirements, cost parameters, and HP's best business interestFormulates pricing positions with suppliers based on solid understanding of all salient factors, including the risks involved and strategies for mitigatingDevelops and awards contracts based on clear business objectivesEnsures that contracts are administered in a way that nurtures positive supplier relationships while protecting HP's business interestsApproaches problems in a rational manner using sound strategies that ensure comprehensive understanding and effective resolutionOur compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $88,000.00 -- $110,000.00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
