Apple MD team is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Global Supply Manager to manage equipment supply chain, who will be in charge of working with CapEx OPM and Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to ensure successful equipment delivery and qualification, production ramp and ongoing production, for various generations of the product.
Apple Equipment GSMs own the supply chain relationship with our equipment vendors and lead cost negotiations, continuity of supply, risk management, driving operational and cost efficiencies through process or design change, as well as overall project execution.
Key Qualifications Key Qualifications - Ability in supply chain development, sourcing management, capex sourcing, or strong mechanical engineering background in product development. - Top-notch analytical/negotiation skills - Ability to toggle between strategic and detail-orientated thinking - Tenacious problem solving & issue resolution skills - Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills - Ability to influence across multiple functional teams - Flexibility to adapt to dynamic and constantly evolving environments - Excellent communicators, capable of working in multinational environments, driven and motivated by accomplishing extraordinary objectives - Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: mechanical design and/or manufacturing techniques like CNC machining, metal stamping, casting, design of jigs/tools/fixtures, injection molding, vacuum forming, for metal, plastic glass or ceramic parts, - Experience with sourcing, or handling production and supply chains for complex capital equipment is a plus Description Description Manage the overall production equipment supply chain at Apple contract manufacturer partner factories.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Work with Apple teams globally to develop and implement capital equipment strategy and equipment vendor selection
- Help investigate in-person the capability and maturity of potential new equipment vendors, and expand equipment supply base where possible.
- Validate the production and delivery plans for all strategic equipment bound for Apple contract manufacturers
- Support commercial negotiation for sophisticated equipment
- Engage with Apple tax and trade compliance teams and develop strategies to manage CapEx within various trade zones in China (bonded/non-bonded zone)
- Lead the engagement to identify and resolve new equipment delivery challenges, including identifying and mitigating supply risks related to critical sub-components for ordered equipment
- Work closely with technical teams to ensure timely qualification of equipment for production
- Work with vendors to resolve equipment related challenges at Apple production sites
- Track and ensure adequate vendor on-site support is available to meet contract manufacturer requirements
- Ensure health of the equipment supply base: help assess and track equipment supplier financial health, and operational and commercial performance
- Work with operations and contract manufacturer teams to transfer, reuse, resell or scrap equipment
- GSMs are courageous leaders working closely with highly skilled multi-functional business & technical teams to identify risks, explore solutions, reach consensus and execute mitigations as quickly and efficiently as possible. Education & Experience Education & Experience BS degree in engineering. MS in Supply Chain or MBA is a plus.
