The team features a broad engineering roster including optical engineers, mechanical engineers, human perception experts, product design engineers, and experimental physicists, which presents a unique opportunity to influence and learn from a diverse group of experts. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Capable of modeling, prototyping, conducting design of experiments, and analytical data processing Prior experience with running finite element analysis, executing failure analysis, building optical setups, and performing hands-on measurements, preferably for imaging optics applications Description Description - Use geometrical optics, structure analysis, and CAD tools to architect new optical modules and to assess their expected performance and limitations
- Identify and implement critical metrics and specifications to deliver performance that matter to customer perception
- Identify novel characterization techniques to measure key performance metrics of complex and novel optical modules
- Influence product-level decisions using tools and methods such as simulation, prototyping and lab characterization
- Build custom metrology hardware and perform hands-on measurements in the lab
- Work with suppliers to develop optical modules, bring up optical test platforms, and perform statistical analysis of data to determine optical performance and quality
- Visit suppliers to support engineering builds, and help with failure analysis activities Education & Experience Education & Experience - BS and a minimum of 20 years relevant industry experience Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Preferred Qualifications: - M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Optical Sciences - Experience managing domestic and international vendors Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $199,800.00 and $364,100.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
