Apple’s Wireless Charging Engineering team supports technology development across all product platforms, and is looking for an Hardware Lab Manager. Working as part of the engineering team, in an organised and cutting edge lab space to continue pushing the technology envelope. They will be responsible for managing the lab equipment and processes at the New Zealand site. We’re looking for a versatile professional and leader who enjoys tackling tough challenges, taking initiative, and enabling world-class hardware engineering in a fast-paced and demanding product development climate. The ideal candidate will also be proficient in a range of hands on tasks, specifically electro-mechanical prototyping/assembly. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Experience working on wireless or consumer electronics product development processes Experienced with product teardown and prototyping activities. Expertise and hands on experience with mechanical test equipment (robots/actuators etc.) and prototyping tools (3D printers, CNC mill/lathe, laser cutter etc). Familiarity with robotics and electro-mechanical troubleshooting in an R&D environment, Familiarity with equipment handling, calibration, and maintenance. Ability to understand and produce basic technical schematics/diagrams for both electrical and mechanical applications. Able to work autonomously in a lab environment, conducting repetitive assembly / rework tasks. Attention to details and ability to produce high quality device and fixture prototypes Proficient in using digital productivity tools like spreadsheets, slide presentations, and workflow management (MacOS preferred) Background on health and safety for lab (Chemical handling, waste disposal, PPEs and similar processes) Self motivated, great organisational skills, and able to handle multiple tasks. Effective written and interpersonal communication skills, proven ability to work cross-functionally, harness the power of teamwork, and relate to technical partners Description Description - Directly responsible for wireless charging test labs, automation, and development lab spaces within Auckland site. - Manage equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventory of all equipment, robots and test set ups. - Work closely with counterparts in defining and enforcing lab policies and guidelines - Perform all assembly and teardown of product prototypes and test fixtures. - Perform the duty of SAM (Secure Access Manager) and ensure strict product security protocols at all times. - Maintain Health and Safety compliance of lab spaces, and promote a culture of proper lab safety and housekeeping practices. This includes training users on best practices for rework / safe operation of equipment. - Support diagnostics and data collection activities as needed. - Shipping/receiving of prototype parts and establishing equipment/parts organisation systems for engineering labs. - Manage inventory, calibration, and maintenance of equipment, accessories across labs. Includes replenishing of consumables. - Function autonomously to resolve issues and identify areas for suggested improvement. - Report issues and concerns and work with cross functional partners for resolution.
