Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Illumina is recruiting an exceptional Scientist 2 or Sr Scientist with a strong background in next generation sequencing library preparation and analysis to develop and support transfer of innovative solutions for clinical applications.  Key objectives would include prototyping new protocols and collecting feasibility data from multi-omics approaches to aid in the identification of variants implicated in genetic disease. In addition to strong molecular biology and data analysis skills, this position will require a high degree of initiative, autonomy, and scientific collaboration.Responsibilities Include:Primarily be responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of experiments to support feasibility studies and assay optimization; effectively communicate findings and identify next stepsServe as a key contributor on scientific collaborations, spearhead projects and provide feedback to both internal and external teams.Assist in writing/reviewing SOPs, posters, presentations, internal/external documentsKeep up-to-date with current best practices and emerging methods in the field of genomics, multiomics, and translational science.Adapt to a fast-moving environment and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teamsListed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs.Required Skills and Experience:PhD in Genetics or a related field, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant industry experiencePrevious hands-on experience in Illumina NGS library preparation and sequencingExperience with handling nucleic acids and sample preparation techniques including DNA and RNA extractionStrong ability to identify technical issues, troubleshoot, and propose resolutionsExceptional collaboration skills and track record of technical achievementScientist 2 - Typically requires or equivalent work experience: BSc: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; MS: 0+ years of relevant experience ($73,400 - $110,200)Sr. Scientist - Typically requires or equivalent work experience: BSc: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; MS: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; PhD: 0-3 years of relevant experience ($88,200 - $132,400)Desirable Skills and ExperienceComfortable using command-line toolsBackground in multi-omics assay methods and approaches (e.g. whole transcriptome, epigenetics, etc).All listed required skills are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.The estimated base salary range for the Scientist 2/Sr. Scientist - Emerging Clinical Applications role based in the United States of America is: $88,200 - $132,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
