This position coordinates with the senior leaders in Product Development and with Product Management to define product roadmaps and strategic directions. Provides technical direction for product development techniques and construction. Directs a management team in resource management and department operations.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead the delivery of critical platform capabilities for the F5 Distributed Cloud including configuration plane, cloud network and orchestration. Employee management including but not limited to sourcing, interviewing and hiring candidates for open positions, onboarding, establishing goals, assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, conducting performance evaluations, approving paid time-off (PTO), developing performance improvement plans, and taking disciplinary action.Set technical and strategic direction for Product Technologies Teams and Sr. ManagersDefines department policies.Acts as a mentor and trains management staff in people management.Develops and modifies PTG processes and methods; focus on continuous improvement.Directs a group of managers involved in the creation of a variety of products.Facilitates communication upward and across project teams.Develops and manages operating budgets.Develop and execute Product Technologies Group strategies that fulfill global market criteria and F5 corporate strategies.Develop successful working relationship with customers, OEMs, Channel partners, and 3rd party vendors to ensure quality of services and deliverables, timely project completion, and company financial gains.Researches, analyzes, and monitors the technology industry to capitalize on opportunities to minimize competitive activity and advancement.Represent department as needed: including project teams, task forces, audits, business or technical meetings with internal or external groups.Participate in continuous self-education in Engineering field (i.e., methodologies, tools) to keep abreast of industry direction and standardsResponsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.Performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExperience delivering SaaS and the operational aspects of supporting a 24x7 business.Knowledge and expertise in software engineering methodologies.Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams; including ManagersExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work with all levels of management and across all disciplines.Ability to inspire othersStrong analytical skills.Strong leadership/mentoring abilities.Experience developing and managing department budget(s).Experience with Configuration Management processesExperience with all phases of the technical publications cycleWillingness and ability to adapt to new processes, ideas, and concepts.Self-directed/self-motivated.Organized managerial work habits.Demonstrated excellence in all written communications.Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
