An overview of this role
At GitLab, we seek to enable a high performance culture while keeping team members’ experience at the forefront of everything we do. As the Director of Global Benefits, you will play a pivotal role in aligning the benefits strategy with GitLab’s organizational strategy, values and culture.
What you’ll do
Oversee the design, development, implementation, and communication of our global benefits programs ensuring they are competitive and equitable
Lead and mentor a team of benefits professionals to develop innovative benefits strategies and provide strategic business partnership while fostering their own growth and development
Lead compliance with domestic and international rules and regulations by ensuring maintenance of global benefits database, effective governance processes, and completion of regular audits
Proactively partner with leadership to recommend enhancements and/or new benefits offerings based on market trends and team member feedback
Drive the review, communication, and implementation of the annual benefits enrollment process
Own the communication strategy and create internal benefits branding messaging and trainings to ensure team members understand the components and value of their benefits package
Develop benefits roadmaps and strategy for planned entities and PEOs to determine future benefits in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Responsible for managing all vendor and consulting relationships and drive proactive communication across regional and local groups
Determine M&A strategy and execution for benefits
Oversee administration of all retirement and pension plans
Track and perform financial analysis of health plan performance
Lead the transition from fully-insured to self-insured plans
Lead quarterly Benefits Administration Committee meetings
What you’ll bring
Progressive experience and demonstrated leadership in designing and managing benefits ideally at rapidly growing, global companies in a relevant industry
Strong understanding of global benefits administration
Forward thinking, creative, and strategic leader with strong project management and organizational skills
Comfortable and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, high growth, constantly changing, geographically dispersed, transparent environment
Ability to drive consensus and engagement across a wide variety of stakeholders in multiple parts of the business
Strategic leader with a strong ability to analyze and turn data into insights and action plans aligned with company direction
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to package and present complex analyses and recommendations clearly
Previous experience in both public and startup companies
Experience preparing for and interacting with the 401k Committee
Experience working remotely and managing remote team members is preferred

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity . Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary. Colorado/Washington pay range $164,200 — $292,400 USD California/Hawaii/New York/New Jersey pay range $164,200 — $307,800 USD
