Design and implement characterization experiments to study factors that influence the degradation of battery components under different testing conditions. Implement a systematic investigation approach for identifying the root causes of failures and develop recommendations for corrective actions. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications 5+ years hands-on experience in transmission electron microscopy techniques including high resolution Z-contrast imaging/spectroscopy, EELS, STEM, EDS, diffraction and cryo applications. Established experience of maintaining and troubleshooting of electron microscopes functionality, previous TEM lab and equipment management experience highly desirable. Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, and project management skills. Hands-on failure analysis and root cause analysis experience for technology development. Attention to details, ability to work well individually and in team settings. Description Description • Develop and validate TEM analysis methods and standard operating procedures for battery materials analysis. • Adhere to best of class lab practices: maintain an organized and clean laboratory environment, follow all lab safety laws. • Carry out TEM/Cryo-TEM characterization (imaging/diffraction/spectroscopy) and analyze the data in support of battery development and failure analysis work. • Implement protocols and replication testing for to establish the process-property-performance correlations and provide mechanistic understanding in degradation modes in lithium-ion battery systems. • Work with different functional groups to collaborate on projects involving battery material characterization and failure analysis. • Train, guide and define tasks for technicians to facilitate work at high standards. Education & Experience Education & Experience BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience. PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, or related field preferred. The base pay range for this role is between $160,700.00 and $282,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
