About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and personable Payroll Manager to oversee our payroll department, managing a team of four payroll specialists. Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in payroll management, strong leadership and interpersonal skills, proficiency in using Workday and ADP software platforms, and experience with multi-state/hybrid employers. This role will report to a Senior Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the payroll department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees.
Supervise and mentor a team of four payroll specialists, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
Develop and implement payroll policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal and Operations to address payroll-related inquiries, resolve issues, and streamline processes.
Manage payroll-related reporting and analytics, providing insights and recommendations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Oversee the compilation and filing of tax, workman’s comp, and 401(k) external reporting, along with maintenance of state and local tax jurisdictions.
Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends related to payroll and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.
Serve as the primary point of contact for external payroll vendors, such as ADP, and oversee the integration and maintenance of payroll systems.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
5+ years of experience in payroll management, with at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.
Strong proficiency in using Workday and ADP (SmartCompliance) software platforms.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Thorough understanding of payroll regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
