Position Summary:
Astera Labs is on the hunt for a seasoned Senior Payroll Manager, a role crafted for an individual contributor who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. This position is pivotal to our continued success and expansion, offering the unique opportunity to shape and oversee our payroll operations. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in payroll management, including proficiency with stock administration, Employee Stock Purchase Plans (ESPP), and extensive knowledge of both US and Canadian payroll systems. This role demands a proactive individual who can seamlessly liaise with auditors, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the entire payroll process for US and Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
Manage stock options, RSUs and ESPP plans ensuring seamless integration with payroll operations.
Act as the primary point of contact for payroll tax audits, effectively liaising with auditors to manage and resolve any issues.
Collaborate closely with the HR and accounting teams to align payroll operations with organizational objectives and financial reporting requirements.
Utilize and maintain payroll software/HRIS systems to streamline payroll processes and enhance efficiency.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines related to payroll and employee compensation in the US and Canada.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve payroll operations and provide training to staff on payroll practices as needed.
Prepare and present reports on payroll activities, trends, and compliance to senior management.
Remain up-to-date with developments in payroll regulations and best practices to ensure continuous improvement of payroll operations.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in stock admin and payroll management, with substantial exposure to stock administration.
Proficient knowledge of payroll process and able to lead 3 rd party service providers or internal team members to provide expertise where needed.
Able to work with auditors and manage payroll tax audits.
Strong collaboration skills, with a history of working alongside HR and accounting teams.
Proficiency in payroll software/HRIS (e.g., ADP) and MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
Four-year degree in Finance related field; professional certification (e.g., CPP, CPM) is highly regarded.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This position is based in Santa Clara, CA, and requires an in-person presence to effectively collaborate with our teams and stakeholders.
The base salary range is $168,000-$250,000. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
