This enables effective oversight of diverse product development initiatives and high-risk projects.Key responsibilities of the Principal Technical Program Manager encompass crafting comprehensive project plans and rigorously monitoring project execution to ensure adherence to scope and schedule. Proficient in managing multiple complex or high-risk projects simultaneously, they possess the capability to devise recovery strategies for projects deviating from their trajectory.Central to the role is driving innovation, development, and delivery of new products aligned with the F5’s distributed cloud platform (F5XC) portfolio. They frequently undertake assignments involving pioneering projects, high-risk ventures, or the coordination of geographically dispersed teams.A critical aspect of the Program Manager role is risk mitigation through meticulous analysis, strategic decision-making, and vigilant project monitoring. Proficient in both project management and team leadership, they provide direction as required.As a seasoned leader, the Principal Technical Program Manager leverages their expertise to foster thought leadership and optimize processes and toolsets within F5XC operations, thereby fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence.The Principal Technical Program Manager is an experienced leader who brings thought leadership and technical acumen to enhance the processes, toolsets, and operations of F5XC.Primary ResponsibilitiesDesign, build and maintain the project plan including scope, schedule and risk management.Manage the gathering of product requirements and project scope in a holistic manner across multiple business functions and optimize per schedule and budget constraints.Monitor progress to plan and design a recovery strategy if project deviates from baseline plan.Assemble and publish effective status reports able to serve a variety of audiences from project team member to Executive.Design and deliver Executive-level presentations to support the governance process for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)Design and manage effective program meetings to communicate status and coordinate efforts.Look for better and more efficient ways to meet stakeholder expectations.Conduct retrospectives on completed projects to support improvement to process, policy, and tools.Collaborate with peers, managers and team members across the organization to design solutions, develop plans and coordinate work.Design and lead projects to improve the processes, tool-sets and the operations of F5XC;Performs other related duties as assigned.The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.  However, the description may not be all-inclusive, and responsibilities and requirements are subject to change.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively across written, verbal and presentation formats to a variety of audiences from project team member to Executive.Ability to develop a schedule using work-breakdown techniques that lead to a defined critical path.Ability to design and document a charter for “first of kind” project that includes scope, schedule and risk management plan.Able to apply critical thinking techniques to analyze problems, develop solutions, build resource forecasts or manage risk.Ability to use Agile methods to manage software development projects.Ability to lead the gathering of product requirements and project scope across a multi-function, geo-located team and optimize them against schedule and budget constraints.Ability to lead through influence to drive forward both the team and program.Ability to manage and facilitate team meetings and initiatives to effectively develop plans and achieve goals.Ability to work cross functionally on large, complex technical challenges and programs with a high level of ambiguity.Strong working knowledge of technology companies and the interplay between Marketing, Product Development, Manufacturing, Customer Support, Sales and Professional Services.Expertise in the use of standard tools for project and portfolio management such as MS Project/MS Project Server or CA PPM.Excellent skill at using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word.Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.Able to communicate fluently and convey ideas with English speakers.Capable of coaching emerging agile teamsQualificationsBA/BSc or other Engineering Technology collegiate degree.Agile scrum master certification.Experience working in a concurrent software development environment as part of a complex build and merge management process.Minimum 8+ years’ experience (2+ years as Program/Project manager) managing projects at technology-based companies or technical domains.Software product development experience is highly desired.Desired experience as software development managerDesired PMP certification required with accompanying experience managing projects to a successful conclusion.Desired Experience managing a geo-dispersed project team. F5 Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and strongly supports diversity in the workplace.The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
