Apple’s Exploratory Design Group (XDG) has an opening for an experienced electrical engineer with significant expertise in mixed-signal control of photonic devices. Working closely with photonics device experts in a diverse cross-functional team, you will use your deep knowledge of digital and analog electronics to design, model and prototype control electronics to accelerate key aspects of future generations of computing systems. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Expertise in analog and digital circuit and system design, including IC’s. Significant experience designing, modeling and implementing high-speed controllers. RTL, firmware, and high-level programming expertise. Solid understanding of signals, noise, and high-speed communications. Solid understanding of the principles and operation of photonic devices. Ability to communicate efficiently and productively with technical peers. Skill in communicating effectively with management and experts in other fields. Ability to lead a small team if necessary. Enthusiasm for learning new fields and taking on new challenges. Interest in modern machine learning and data science. Description Description With input from domain experts and support from an exceptional team, you will help conceive, analyze, model, optimize and evolve new and emerging concepts and devices for future Apple systems. You will use your unusually broad knowledge of analog and digital systems, plus your skill at electronic modeling, to design, prototype and test highly optimized subsystems to manage the interfaces between digital and photonic domains. You will communicate plans and technical results through team meetings, written reports and presentations to wider teams or to management as appropriate. You will participate in the design, prototyping and characterization of resulting computing systems, and will almost certainly need to learn new things. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $199,800.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
