We embrace diversity in thought and contribution and are committed to providing an equitable work environment that is foundational to our core values as a company and is vital to our success. Supervisor, Data Center Critical Facilities EngineeringJob SummaryThe Supervisor, Data Center Critical Facilities Engineering provides direct supervision to individual contributor Critical Facilities Engineers, guides Critical Facilities Engineering work teams, and is actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems in data center facilities engineering including but not limited to HVAC/cooling, electrical systems, UPS, backup generators and transfer switches. The Supervisor, Data Center Critical Facilities Engineering assigns tasks and monitors work at frequent intervals, and maintains schedules and workflow of the team.Responsibilities Facilities/Infrastructure MaintenancePerforms highly skilled preventative and corrective maintenance on-site to critical facility systems (HVAC/cooling, electrical systems, UPS, backup generators and transfer switchesPerforms highly skilled maintenance repairs, corrective maintenance, and complex installationsResolves advanced incidents and develops new procedures and techniques to support the overall teamMonitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve. Makes recommendations for new procedures to management teamLeads and coordinates critical infrastructure operationsImplements energy efficiency measures and identifies areas of opportunitiesInspects operation and maintenance of plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systemsConsistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues. Makes recommendations for new proceduresDevelops project scope with management for life-cycle maintenance/end of life infrastructure projects and critical replacementsVendor ManagementFacilitates selection of vendors for outsourced maintenance activitiesDirects vendors on highly skilled tasks to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out per standards and requirementsCreates scripts for maintenance and submitsTracks and implements the work approval process for critcal service providers (including briefing at the start of work, control of work during the day workday/shift, final review of the work carried out)Inspects implementation changes/updates to technical files for plants and equipment (in cooperation with vendor and the supervisor's) ensuring builds are up to dateSite Administration and Incident ReportingCompletion of complex site logs and data gathering for issuing of permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scriptsIdentifies and escalates process discrepancies to higher managementIdentifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and makes recommendations for new proceduresActs as a support team lead for operating processes and procedures; supports the team on adherenceSupports the on-site staff during critical incidentsResponds to all on-site incidents, including major failures, significant problems and delaysAssists with RCA (Root Cause Analysis)Assists management with maintaining technical documentsWork Orders and Additional ProjectsCompletes highly skilled work requests and circuit installationsCoordinates more advanced troubleshooting and maintenance of office equipment (if necessary); supports auxiliary equipment and machines with problem solving and repairs to avoid/minimize downtimeMakes moderate changes to mechanical, electrical and specialized systems, as directedPerforms capacity management reviewsLeads infrastructure project activitiesCollaborationCollaborates with others to resolve highly difficult facility incidents; identifies and understands underlying issuesAct as a support team lead when identifying component level faults and provides recommendations for new proceduresUses resources outside of the department, as necessaryPlans inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipmentMay act as an escalation point for processes relating to maintaining inventoryAdvises other team members on repairs and preventative maintenanceSupports implementing highly skilled, complex projectsQualificationsMinimum of 5 years of critical facilities engineering experienceMission critical facilities experience required, strong preference for data center experienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent work experienceEquinix is an Equal Employment Opportunity and, in the U.S., an Affirmative Action employer.
