Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position SummaryThis is an exciting opportunity to be a Sr. Staff Product Development Program Manager (PM) for a variety of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platform development projects.  The Sr. Staff PM will manage a cross functional, matrixed core team to execute new product development projects. They will follow lllumina’s Product Development Process (PDP) from Concept through Commercialization phase gates by managing cost, scope, and schedule throughout.  The ideal candidate must be a skilled team leader with strong negotiation and influencing skills. They must also have a proven track record of managing complex projects, and communicating effectively at all levels within a matrixed organization.Responsibilities:Provides management and leadership skills to drive execution on  comprehensive new product development programs involving molecular assays, genetic sequencing principles, sequencing systems, software, and/or complex electro-mechanical systems.Collaborate cross-functionally to develop, maintain, execute, and communicate overall project plans (scope, schedule, resourcing, quality, risk management, budget, and procurement) and revise them appropriately to meet changing project needs and requirements.Schedule and lead phase gate reviews with an executive approval committee.Work effectively with stakeholders to ensure program goals are clearly defined and in alignment with business objectives.Identify and resolve or escalate program issues, facilitate tradeoff decisions, and resolve obstacles.Ensure compliance with Illumina’s business and quality system requirements.Continuously work to optimize project management and development processes, methodologies, and tools to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.Apply best practices and knowledge of internal/external business challenges to improve products.Positively influence all levels of stakeholders to ensure programs receive necessary support and are sufficiently resourced.May have direct or dotted line management of other project managers.Requirements:Subject matter expert in all aspects of Project and Program management, including:Timeline / scheduling using MS Project (or similar tools), including dependencies, critical path determination and optimization.Able to manage project/program budget and communicate actionable proposals to leadership.Expert at project/program resource management, resource scheduling.Able to manage complex program scope and balance risks.In depth knowledge of molecular assay development, genetic sequencing principles, sequencing systems, software, or complex electro-mechanical systems.Proven track record in successfully managing medium to high complexity IVD or RUO product development projects.Subject matter expert in product development lifecycles including regulated IVD/Clinical products.Strong understanding of the biotech and/or life science industries and best practices to improve products, processes, or services.Command of most topics in the PM Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).Advanced interpersonal and facilitation skills with a proven ability to effectively build relationships and achieve consensus across a wide range of functions and constituents.Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.Sound grasp of the key market and business drivers and considerations in the biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device and/or life science industries.Demonstrated leadership including the ability to identify key issues and to motivate and empower others to address them in a way which builds morale and generates ownership and commitment.Self-starter with superior problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills and a track record for high performance and superior delivery.Experience/Education:Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent, may require an advanced degree, in Life Sciences, Engineering, Business or related field.PMP certification is preferred.12+ years of product development experience (10 years for M.S., 8 years for Ph.D) with 6 years managing projects cross-functional product development programs. Demonstrated experience leading multiple complex programs from Concept to Commercialization (preferably in a regulated industry).#LI-HYBRIDThe estimated base salary range for the Sr. Staff Product Development Program Manager (NGS Platform Development) role based in the United States of America is: $138,800 - $208,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
