What You'll Do
As a Backend Engineer you will be part of the Backend Engineering team to collaborate on Epic’s mission of building fast, personalized, easy to use applications. These efforts will all help to power our internal products and enable external development teams all over the world. You will be working on features that have a high impact for application and business to increase the customer base and customer retention. You will also be working on improvements in reliability of the systems and scale the application based on traffic.
In this role, you will
Write distributed systems to handle large scale challenges to drive the highest impact on backend services.
Work with the backend engineering team to design and implement software features and services.
Work closely with the Tech Lead, and other engineers on the team, to define the appropriate technical approach, metrics, and timelines for features and improvements.
Support the Product Manager in breaking complex requirements down into simple and understandable deliverables.
Support the live system in production.
Analyze users’ needs and then design and develop software to meet those needs.
Design each piece of an application or system and plan how the pieces will work together.
Create a variety of models and diagrams showing programmers the software code needed for an application.
Ensure that a program continues to function normally through software maintenance and testing.
Document every aspect of an application or system as a reference for future maintenance and upgrades.
What we’re looking for
Requires a bachelor’s (or foreign equivalent) in computer science, information technology, or a related field, Will accept educational equivalency evaluation prepared by qualified evaluation service or in accordance with 8 CFR § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(D)
5 years of experience in related occupations.
Requires 5 years of experience with the following:
Design and architecture and building scalable software applications;
Developing and debugging with Java; Go, Python, C#, JavaScript; SQL, NoSQL, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB; Containerization and Serverless Technologies;
Developing in a large codebase, designing and implementing a tool from the ground up;
Operating and developing infrastructure and services in public cloud environments;
Collecting high-level requirements and translating them into pragmatic solutions.
