Position Overview:
This role is an opportunity to make an impact on one of Diligent's highest performing teams assisting in exciting sales related tasks in our ESG Group.
Key Responsibilities
Week 1: Onboarding
Introduce the intern to the team and provide an overview of the team's role in the company
Introduce the intern to key personnel
Provide an overview of the company's products and services and their target market
Review the sales process and key metrics used to measure success
Assign the intern a mentor from the team to help with questions and provide guidance
Week 2-3: Sales Research
Research potential customers in the target market using online resources, industry reports, and market research databases
Gather contact information for key decision-makers in the target companies, including names, titles, email addresses, and phone numbers
Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities, such as which products or services are selling well and which geographic regions have the highest sales potential
Create a database to store the research information and make it accessible to the sales team
Week 4-5: Lead Generation
Use the research from the previous weeks to create a database of leads for the sales team to pursue
Develop a cold-calling and email outreach strategy to engage leads, including scripts and templates for phone and email communications
Test the outreach strategy on a sample of leads and refine as needed based on the response rate
Work with the sales manager to create a plan for following up with leads and tracking their progress through the sales pipeline
Week 6-7: Sales Support
Assist the sales team with administrative tasks such as creating proposals, contracts, and invoices
Provide support during the sales process, including scheduling meetings and following up with prospects to ensure they have the information they need
Attend sales meetings and take notes to provide feedback to the team on areas for improvement
Work with the sales manager to create training materials for new sales reps, including a sales playbook and onboarding materials
Week 8-10: Final Project
Work with the sales manager to identify an area of improvement for the team, such as a process that could be streamlined or a new tool that could be implemented
Develop a plan to address the identified issue, including a timeline, budget, and resources needed
Present the plan to the sales team and the sales manager for feedback and refinement
Implement the plan and track its success over time, presenting regular progress reports to the sales manager and the team
Required Experience/Skills

Experience working in excel
Someone who is passionate about process improvement and technology
Within commuting distance of our New York Office
Pursuing their Bachelors Degree
Must be available from 6/10 - 8/16
