This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Products organization. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. If so, apply!Responsibilities and Duties: Add features to the existing frameworks in areas of Build System and Simulation.Help verify the capacity and robustness of Calix cloud products with simulations.Enhance / restructure builds to increase the velocity and reliability of the build process and improve code sharing capabilities.Participate in technical discussions within engineering group in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): requirements, produce design documents, participate in peer reviews, produce test plans, support QA team.Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate college degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Preference will be given to those who have at least completed their Junior year.Familiar with Java, Python, C, scripting languages.Familiar with Linux and Windows OS.Must understand basic computer programming concepts, data structures, and object-oriented programming.Familiar with source control applications such as GIT.Positive attitude with a desire to learn.Detail oriented.Strong communication skills.Ability to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge or experience with LXC or Docker containers and Linux build systems. Knowledge of IP and Ethernet protocols and concepts such as IP/TCP/UDP/DHCP/IGMP/NAT. Python expertise. Agile development conceptsCompensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education (i.e. year in school).There are different ranges applied to specific locations.
