And it means we prioritize a diverse F5 community where each individual can thrive.Position SummaryAs a key influencer and expert in site reliability, the Principal SRE is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of reliability measures for software systems. This role includes leading the creation of strategies for zero-downtime deployment, real-time logging, alerting, monitoring solutions, and code instrumentation. The Principal SRE will collaborate closely with development, platform teams, and solution architects to design highly available solutions and automate processes wherever possible. The individual will also develop tooling and frameworks to enhance observability and automate the environment, aiming to improve developer productivity, product quality, and system performance. This role manages complex projects, mentors junior staff, and serves as a spokesperson on advanced reliability topics and strategies. This is a remote position.Primary ResponsibilitiesServes as the technical lead and SRE expert for system modules, setting strategies for reliability and operational excellence.Leads the design of new and enhancement of existing tools, utilities, and environments to increase system reliability and performance.Plans and implements design specifications with a focus on automation and best practices in reliability engineering.Collaborates with architects and managers to scope projects and estimate required resources.Guides the technical workflow and direction of engineering teams within the scope of assigned projects.Works with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of projects in their entirety.Acts as a mentor for junior members, enhancing the team’s SRE knowledge and skills.Recommends and enforces technical design methodologies, processes, and standards for reliability.Participates in cross-functional teams to extend expertise in other modules/systems and promote reliability as a key feature.Engages with customers and internal teams to address escalations, providing solutions that enhance reliability.Drives detailed product requirements with Product Management from a reliability perspective.Upholds and promotes the company’s Business Code of Ethics and policies.Performs other related duties as assigned, including on-call responsibilities and occasional travel.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExpert knowledge and extensive experience in SRE practices and technologies.Proven track record in leading SRE initiatives from concept through release.Strong experience in designing and implementing observability, logging, alerting, and monitoring in complex environments.Exceptional problem-solving skills, especially in real-time production environments.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications, often sharing insights through various formats.Recognized as a technical lead and a go-to expert in SRE and multiple technical areas.Regular office environment duties, including being on call and working outside normal hours as needed.QualificationsMinimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years of experience; or equivalent experience in site reliability engineering or related fields.#LI-EM1The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
