We build performant, scalable, reliable and globally distributed technology used by many of the most successful companies – if that sounds like fun, come join us!About the RoleAs a Senior Software Engineering Manager  within Workday's IAM Organization, you will be a key player, not only in leading team(s) of engineers, but also in helping us define and optimize our technology and operational practices. You will be responsible for creating a collaborative and inclusive environment with high performing engineers and ensuring timely delivery of exceptional software products. The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineering manager with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of software development, object-oriented languages, and proficiency in distributed systems and cloud/SaaS technologies.Key Responsibilities:Team Mentoring: Provide thoughtful career and professional development mentoring to your team that lets your team grow and accomplish great things.Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership to multiple software development teams, ensuring cohesion, and motivation while fostering a culture of excellence.Technical Expertise: Utilize your experience in JVM-based languages and distributed cloud/SaaS systems to guide and support your team(s).Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, other engineering leaders, and multi-functional teams to ensure the alignment of development efforts with company objectives.Communication: Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical ideas effectively to different stakeholders.Project Management: Be adept at estimating technical work and timelines, and help prioritize sprint work across teams to meet deadlines and keep projects on track.About YouWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our team. If you are a strong leader with a passion for delivering high-quality software and creating an inclusive and collaborative environment where high-performing engineers can thrive, we want you to be a part of our growing family! Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).7+ years of software development experience.4+ years of experience in an engineering management role.Other Qualifications:Experience owning/operating SaaS/cloud-based distributed systems.Strong knowledge of multi-threaded, object-oriented languages like Java, Go, etc.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.High EQ with proven ability to lead and motivate engineering teams.Strong project management, prioritization, and time management skills.Strong technical background with a passion for staying up-to-date with industry trends.Knowledge of Identity and Access Management technology is a plus.Our Approach to Flexible Work With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote.
