As part of our Sensing, Data & Interaction group, you’ll observe how people behave, react, and interact with our devices and then transform those insights into innovative features for Apple. You’ll design sensing features such as gesture-reading sensors, Touch ID, and others, all dedicated to crafting the world’s best Multi-Touch user experience. You’ll collaborate with hardware and software groups throughout Apple to craft products that intuitively respond to human use. We are looking for a Human Factors Engineer who could initiate, plan and conduct studies to support design decisions and to validate sensor based interactions for various hardware products. As a member of a team that leads investigational studies for interaction technology, you will have the opportunity to work on various Apple HW products, where interaction is a crucial element for the success of the products. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications - Proficiency in the diverse toolkit of user experience research, and ability to select, scale, and adapt your research plan to achieve a goal optimally - Ability to identify research goals based on ambiguous problem statements - Experience in prototyping study tools to verify research hypotheses for interaction technology - Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization - A validated ability to present research findings and recommendations to all levels of partners, including executive management - An ability to rapidly acquire familiarity with emergent technologies and software algorithms - Experience with Motion Capture, VR/AR, Multi-Sensory Interactions, or Biomechanics is helpful Description Description We identify human factors risk and propose vital human factors research at all phases of product/technology development. We work closely with engineers and designers to clearly understand design and interaction challenges. We lead user-centered research by identifying key issues for a development phase. We collaborate cross-functionally to identify the study goals and to develop a study plan for the goal. We influence cross-functional engineering teams by delivering results that could drive a decision. We Identify critical attributes for data collection and conduct statistical (qualitative and quantitative) data analysis to formulate insights. Visualize data and findings to deliver results to stakeholders. Education & Experience Education & Experience B.S. degree required with experience in Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, HCI or a related design discipline; MS or PhD preferred. In lieu of degrees, 3+ years of experience in related fields. Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $208,300.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
