An overview of this role The Product Adoption Metrics team is a new team at GitLab that will provide the tooling and framework to help GitLab stages and groups understand and improve on adoption of their features to better support customers. They will work collaboratively with Product, Development, and Data teams, to understand and quantify the value of feature development within GitLab across the DevSecOps stages . This team of engineers will work collaboratively across the GitLab DevSecOps stages working to help customers adopt key work streams we know will unlock more value and accelerate their path to adoption. An initial focus on instrumentation - through dogfooding our own Product Analytics stack - will focus on the Secure and Govern stage features, and then branch out into other DevSecOps stages. Beyond this the team will run product adoption experiments to help customers adopt capabilities we know our customers struggle to gain value in. What you’ll do    Write high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to best practices and contributing to code reviews Embrace continuous learning and stay connected with industry best practices, tools, and technologies to drive improvements in our software Mentor and support junior team members as you grow, sharing your knowledge and expertise to contribute to their growth Contribute to our development process by asking questions and providing feedback to make us better as a team Collaborate with more Senior Engineers on the architectural plans and technical designs ensuring scalability, performance, maintainability and measurability Participate in agile development practices, including planning sessions, stand-ups, and retrospectives, to drive iterative software development and continuous improvement for the team What you’ll bring  Proficiency with Ruby and Ruby on Rails (2+ years experience preferred) Proven experience writing testable code in Ruby on Rails Experience with Relational Database Management Systems (PostgreSQL is a plus) Experience implementing privacy focused application instrumentation is a plus Experience with GraphQL is a plus Experience in a product led growth team or A/B testing experience is a plus Frontend or Fullstack development experience is a plus (Javascript, Vuejs or similar framework) A commitment to Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging ( DIB at GitLab ) An ability to self manage and organize in an asynchronous and collaborative work environment Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions Familiarity with various stages of software development end-to-end (Agile methodologies is a plus) Proven ability to work effectively in a team including product managers, designers, and other engineers A commitment to continuous learning and openness to giving and receiving feedback as a part of fostering individual and team development About the team The Product Adoption Metrics team is a new team. Remote-Global The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity . Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
