Smartsheet is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our growing Accounting team.  In this role, you will provide accounting support for Smartsheet, an increasingly complex, high-growth SaaS company with expanding international operations. This highly visible position will encompass a work scope across Revenue Accounting, Corporate Accounting, and SEC reporting.  In 2005, Smartsheet was founded on the idea that teams and millions of people worldwide deserve a better way to deliver their very best work. Today, we deliver a leading cloud-based platform for work execution, empowering organizations to plan, capture, track, automate, and report on work at scale, resulting in more efficient processes and better business outcomes.  This position reports to the Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting and may work remotely from Costa Rica. You Will: Help manage the monthly close process, including review of monthly accruals, equity accounting, expense analytics, engineering department allocations, and owning and meeting internal deadlines Develop a deep understanding of the transactional flow through various financial systems to monitor and ensure accurate financial results relating to revenue and expenses Create, review, and maintain standard operating procedures Own and continuously implement process improvements to capture financial statement data more efficiently Mentor staff and senior accountants Prepare and review accounting schedules required as support for quarterly and annual filings Provide analysis of variances between financial results month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter Participate in continued development and evaluation of internal controls and processes, in accordance with best practices and SOX requirements Perform other duties as assigned You Have: 8+ years relevant work experience with proven progressive career path, public company experience strongly preferred 3+ years of people management/team leadership experience Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Deep understanding of financial accounting, financial statements, and ability to understand, and willingness to learn, technical accounting concepts and topics Ability to interact and effectively communicate with the US-based accounting team and remain professional and flexible under pressure Knowledge of and experience with an ERP system and online accounting software preferred (NetSuite highly preferred) Willingness to approach tasks hands-on and balance requirements of both preparing and reviewing deliverables Highly detail-oriented and excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to build complete and streamlined accounting operations Ability to analyze problems, develop/recommend solutions, and resolve issues Perks & Benefits: Fully paid Health & Life insurance for full-time employees and family members Equity - Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) for eligible roles Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity Asociacion Solidarista with employee and employer contributions as well as potential alliances with entities such as universities, gyms, etc. 12 days paid Vacation + Flexible Time Away Program 20 weeks fully paid Maternity Leave 12 weeks fully paid Paternity/Adoption Leave Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community Opportunities for professional growth and development including access to LinkedIn Learning online courses Company Funded Perks including a counseling membership and your own personal Smartsheet account Teleworking options from any registered location in Costa Rica (role specific)   Get to Know Us: At Smartsheet, we’ve created a place where everyone is welcome — people from all over the world, all backgrounds, all ages, all colors, and all beliefs working side by side.
