This is a full-time summer internship based in Richardson, Texas. Calix is seeking a talented and passionate Solution Test Engineer Intern to join the Wi-Fi / Smart Home Solutions Test team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The position is part of a global test team that provides software and quality assurance testing on an industry-disrupting ecosystem comprised of cloud, IoT/embedded systems, and mobile applications. This position will mainly be focused on Wi-Fi and/or services testing in many test environments including a home, isolation chambers, and other Telecom Network environments. The candidate must be able to work independently. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.Responsibilities and Duties: Software and hardware testing comprising of Cloud services, IoT/embedded systems, and Wi-Fi hardware and/or applications.Create the required accompanying technical documentation and bug reports.Create a test strategy and/or automation to evaluate the complete end-to-end solution.Qualifications: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate college degree program in Engineering, Networking, or Telecommunications. Preference will be given to applicants with prior work or internship experience and who are currently in their Junior or Senior year of college.Familiarity with the common features and configuration of a Wi-Fi router.Familiarity of Wi-Fi standards IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax.Comfortable with technology and learning new applications and platforms.Experience in a role or project requiring analytical problem-solving skills and analysis.Available to work effectively in a remote environment with a high tolerance for ambiguity and fast-changing environments.Strong communication skills with all levels of an organization.Experience with performance test methods and tools, e.g. – IxChariot, Spirent, Octoscope, Ixia, or iPerf is a plus.Experience with the Python computer language is a plus.Ability to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).Compensation will vary based on geographical location within the United States.
