Our DevOps team is responsible for optimizing the deployment and management of Illumina’s global cloud-based digital experience solutions such as Illumina.com, Ecommerce and Customer Dashboard. We also provide front-line development and operational support for these assets. You will be working on various cutting-edge DevOps tools and technologies managing Cloud-based enterprise applications such as Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, CloudFormation, etc. As an IT Engineer, you will be a part of the team that provides customer-centric digital experience solutions worldwide to enable the transformation of human health through DNA sequencing. Responsibilities: Responsible for maintaining production and lower environments (Development, QA, Validation and Staging). Responsible for DevOps activities such as builds, continuous integration and deployment. Design, write and deliver software and automation to dramatically improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of infrastructure. Manage virtual and physical cloud resources as required with an overall objective of improving the scalability, reliability, performance, and availability of the cloud infrastructure. Compose and leverage AWS CloudFormation Templates for utilization, to ensure repeatable, sustainable AWS infrastructure is effectively managed. Discusses, analyzes, reviews, and resolves application environment issues with development teams. Develop a detailed understanding of application functionality and architecture. Responsible for configuring monitoring solutions which includes log monitoring, performance monitoring and outage reporting. Drafts, documents, and implements backup, recovery, and business continuity plans. Coordinate the implementation of new software and technology initiatives. Perform software installation, configuration, deployments, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Coordinate between Development, Operational and Infrastructure teams to ensure smooth environment support and release processes. Provision and manage user access and permissions to support a secure technology environment. Interface and collaborate with Developers, Hosting provider/Infrastructure Team, Database teams/DBA to debug problems end-to-end and achieve resolution. Install and manage SSL Certificates on Production and lower-level Environments. Perform database and software lifecycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance, availability, and compliance with business requirements. Configure and Perform application backup and restore operations. Administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring security and integrity. Continue to automate, scale, and manage cloud infrastructure. Maintain AWS Cloud Infrastructure in Optimal Configuration from both technical and budgetary perspectives. Review and enhance Operational Service Plans, Run books, known issues knowledge bases, log defects. Install, upgrade, patch, configure, troubleshoot, and administer third-party vendor tools. Work with external vendors/consultants to diagnose complex problems and drive resolution. Requirements: 5+ years of related experience working on a DevOps role in full capacity. Expertise in administration, configuration, optimization, and monitoring of Linux at scale. Experience with AWS cloud-based deployment and support. Experience with one or more automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, or CloudFormation. Experience with DevOps tools for building automation with TeamCity or Jenkins. Skilled in the implementation of monitoring tools like Splunk, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, etc. Knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as bash, Python and PowerShell. Knowledge of troubleshooting web applications and AWS infrastructure configurations. Experience working with any of the Ecommerce platforms is a plus. Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming concepts in Node.js, Java and/or.NET. Familiarity with RESTful API’s in Node.js, Java and/or .NET. Experience with modern container systems such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS, etc. preferred. A strong preference for collaborative teamwork and work/knowledge sharing. The ability to pick up new technologies quickly and rapidly deep dive. A driving need to fix a problem only once. Education: BS/MS in computer science, engineering, or related technical degree.
