Packaging Sourcing EngineerDescription -What a Packaging Sourcing Engineer does at HP:Develop and execute packaging commodity strategy. Clearly document and communicate commodity strategies to guide our development partners.Work with worldwide RnD teams to develop material specification, release drawings to supplier and lead RFQ and supplier rationalization.Accountable and responsible for managing all commodity spend and delivering material cost savings.Lead the analysis of a specific commodity data and industry trends or lead an individual supply chain subcategory.Meet all NPI business requirements by working with internal partners (procurement engineer, BU Ops and R&D project team) and external partners (Manufacturing partners and suppliers)Negotiate and contract with suppliers. Identifies contract risk areas.Evaluates supplier capabilities and capacity to ensure production output can meet HP demand in both normal and abnormal supply conditions (i.e. multiple sourcing, geographic diversity). Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, conduct regular supplier performance review.Manage supply base risk, develop business continuity plans (BCP) and execute risk mitigation strategies.Manage a robust set of business processes and documentation that ensure audit compliance and minimize business risk.Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:Bachelor's degree in mechanical Engineering, or relevant.Above 3 years of experience in packaging industry or procurement function.Understanding of packaging commodities, manufacturing process, material properties and specifications.This position will work with supplier in China hence Chinese in both writing and speaking is preferred.Ability to effectively communicate procurement plans, proposals, supply issues, and negotiate options to internal partners.Good business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint) and presentation skills.
