At Coursera, you will work with the Legal and Compliance team in a fast paced startup environment. As a summer Legal Intern you will have the opportunity to: Immerse yourself in Coursera’s culture as well as the products we offer; Shadow in-house counsel and gain exposure to important, varied, and highly strategic matters across the globe that  include subject areas such as academic and higher education compliance, privacy compliance, sanctions compliance, open- source licensing, privacy, consumer rights, copyright and IP issues, regulatory issues, and general transactional work; Contribute to resolving high-priority legal issues that may arise, which may include conducting legal research on a variety of legal issues that affect our business, as well as assist in projects that help scale our legal processes.   We are looking for two current law students to work full-time during the summer remotely in our collegial and very busy team. This is no ordinary summer internship - our interns work on real-world problems. Our interns have worked on important, varied, and highly strategic matters across the globe that include subject areas such as academic and higher education compliance, privacy compliance, sanctions compliance, open-source licensing, privacy, consumer rights, copyright and IP issues, regulatory issues, and general transactional work. Responsibilities: Learn how an in-house legal team operates; Work on a wide variety of transactional matters, including review and summarization of key agreements, review of redlines, drafting transactional documents and NDAs, and participating in contract negotiations;   Research cutting-edge domestic and international regulatory issues, including in the areas of: online education and academic compliance, government regulations, privacy, consumer rights, employment, corporate, and others;  Assist with contract management, documentation, and processes; Help protect Coursera’s IP and international brand; and Work with passionate people who love to continually learn in a constantly changing legal market. Basic Qualifications: Completion of at least 2L year or an LLM program  at an ABA-accredited law school by the time the internship begins (provided the candidate is authorized to work in the United States). Previous work experience in a legal setting (e.g. commercial law firm, commercial or non-profit in-house legal team, clerkship, legal services clinic, or externship)  Demonstrated proficiency with G Suite and Microsoft Office Must be available to commit to the internship from May 20, 2024 to August 2, 2024 Please attach a cover letter with your application setting out why you believe you are suitable for this role.
