We are looking for a software engineer to define and contribute to the performance and reliability initiatives for the Search serving stack. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications In-depth knowledge of tools and techniques for analyzing performance of operating systems and applications Expertise in Linux systems and containers Excellent initiative and collaborative skills Ability to design resilient, scalable and performant distributed services Strong coding skills Description Description The Search Infrastructure organization is looking for a Performance Engineer to help ensure the search engine runs with the best performance for Apple users. The team has a broad scope. We lead the organization in defining and prioritizing the work to lastingly improve performance and reliability of the serving stack. We are responsible for efficiently routing Apple user requests to our search engine and between the search services. We select or build observability tools that empower developers. Finally we continuously provide expertise to other teams to identify and address bottlenecks in critical workloads. Education & Experience Education & Experience BS/MS/PhD degree in Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience. Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Nice to Have: Knowledge of Envoy proxy Familiarity with the following: - Networking performance - Golang - Envoy proxy - Cilium, eBPF - Chaos testing Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $199,800.00 and $300,200.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
