Today, visual computing is becoming increasingly central to how people interact with technology, and there has never been a more exciting time to join our team!The Performance Engineer Intern will analyze performance and power consumption on all aspects of computer systems and computer devices including CPU, GPU, memory, IO, networking, audio, video, and internal busses. The systems and devices include gaming GPUs, workstations, data center servers, and embedded platforms. The Engineer will run standard and custom tests on multiple systems and analyze the data to find performance issues and power issues. They will investigate the cause of issues then create reports based on the analysis. The engineer will work with product development engineers to tune NVIDIA’s products for power and performance. This engineer will also develop, implement, and maintain tests and automation tools to run tests so that testing can be run automatically on most systems and the engineer can spend more time analyzing data and creating tests and tools.Preferred duration: 8 to 12 monthsWhat you’ll be doing:Analyze the data to draft reports and charts to visualize the results.Identify performance issues and corroborate with other teams to find possible solutions.Work with product development engineers to tune our products for maximum performance and help define the next generation GPUs.Study and analyze the performance on various computing platforms including graphics, CPU, memory, storage, networking, etc.Develop, implement, and maintain automation tools to improve testing efficiency.Test standard and custom applications on a wide variety of systems including desktops, workstations, servers, and embedded platforms.Provide reports with detailed analysis to help position current GPUs and define future products.What we need to see:Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical fieldShould have some experience in a technical position that included performance or power analysis of computer systems.Familiarity with hardware components and PC building. This engineer should have experience developing code with Python, Perl, or other scripting languages.Experience using database management tools and languages like SQL and MySQL.Special conditions: This position may require some late night and/or weekend work hours.Ways to stand out from the crowd:Experience using Windows and Linux operating systems. Advanced knowledge of Linux and shell scripts are a plus.Knowledge of C, C++, is a plus. It is also desirable that this engineer have knowledge of tools for creating simulated user keyboard, mouse, and action inputs.Industry experience or familiarity with system configurations at low levels including BIOS configurations, setting memory timing, controlling cache latency and overclocking the system is a plus.NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology world’s most desirable employers.
