This will require collaboration with your partners in development and test to ensure the high quality bar of our audio and voice features. You will work independently as well as with a team of industry leading innovators in other engineering fields such as acoustics, networking, application software, hardware, and user experience. If you love music, solving challenging problems, and doing things the right way every time, we would like to talk to you!This role is office-basedThis role can be done from our Boston, Santa Barbara, or Seattle offices with a hybrid working style of 3+ days in the office.What You’ll DoUnderstand the end-to-end audio pipeline and how to testCollaborate with audio software teams to deliver features that are implemented, tested, and documented at the end of each sprintDeliver efficient and thorough automated testingDevelop infrastructure for wireless testing of audio systems (e.g. synchronization and latency)Investigate and triage bugs to determine root cause and establish prioritizationShape test processes to ensure exceptional sound qualityMentor and guide the work of junior engineersBe a passionate advocate for software qualityWhat You'll NeedResearch shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. If you don’t have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.Basic QualificationsB.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Acoustic Engineering5+ years of audio software test experience with strong background in DSPSolid understanding of audio test and measurement methodsSolid understanding of time domain and frequency domain processing fundamentalsExperience measuring latency stackups within an audio pipeline or processing times in software stackExperience with audio formats (e.g. Dolby Atmos, AAC, MP3, OGG, WAV) and metadataProficient in PythonExperience with Unix/LinuxPreferred QualificationsSound engineering or audio backgroundExperience with GitHub and CI/CDExperience with JenkinsLoves music and is passionate about high quality soundExperience coordinating with external testing partners on certification and regression testingAt Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead  individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience.  All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity.  Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions.
