The chosen candidate will have laboratory experience with protein biochemistry and assays and will function closely with a team of scientists to design processes for manufacture of proteins and related reagents.Responsibilities:Develop robust, scalable protein purification processes suitable for transfer to manufacturingPurify proteins using column chromatography and filtration techniquesPerform functional and physical assays to assess protein purity and stabilityDevelop, generate, and verify buffer systems to support specific design requirementsThoroughly and accurately document experiments as they are performedCurate samples and generate process development reportsHelp troubleshoot unexpected or challenging results within a teamOptimize and stress test process designs to ensure robust performanceAnalyze, summarize, and present results to teams to drive design decisions and improvementsListed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position. Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needsRequirements:BS with minimum 5 years, MS with minimum 3 years, or PhD with 0-3 years experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fieldExperience in analyzing proteins and nucleic acids using techniques such as SDS-PAGE, agarose gel electrophoresis, UV/Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence-based assays, or protein or nucleic acid quantitationFamiliarity with column chromatography techniques such as IMAC, affinity, ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, or size exclusion chromatographyFamiliarity with filtration techniques such as microfiltration, depth filtration, or tangential flow filtrationExperience with automated purification using Cytiva Akta systems and Unicorn software is a plusExperience with basic buffer formulation for proteins and understanding of the chemical properties of salts, chelators, biological buffers, and reducing agentsExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent troubleshooting, organizational, and analytical abilitiesExcellent time-management skillsComfort with ambiguity and a fast-paced, highly collaborative work environmentAble to pivot and quickly shift work focus according to business needsThe estimated base salary range for the Senior Scientist - Enzyme Process Development role based in the United States of America is: $81,800 - $122,600. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
