You will also analyze, scrutinize, and present the results of your work to peers and managers. This position will suit someone who is interested in understanding the ins and outs of sequencing technology and enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative environment.The RoleThe team uses biochemical assays in the form of enzyme kinetics and biomolecular interactions, as well as biophysical methods and all of Illumina sequencing platforms to inform the development of novel and improved solutions for Illumina’s sequencing technology.Responsibilities will include:Supporting research projects with a strong biochemistry/-physics background - Independently design and perform experiments, perform analysis of complex data sets, and provide interpretations of their results that drive towards project goals as well as new innovative ideas.Employ analytical tools for protein/reagent characterization (biophysical and activity) and demonstrate their predictive value for performance and quality.Operation of state-of-the-art equipment including Illumina sequencers.Document their work and share progress with global project teams, compile reports to management.Provides technical leadership in the lab and mentors supporting scientists and junior personnel on technical skills in their area of expertise. Making key decisions on experimental design.Overcoming difficult technical challenges in a fast-paced environment with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.Qualifications, experience & attributesHave a PhD in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology/Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related discipline. Candidates without a PhD but with a degree in Biochemistry (or related field) and relevant industry experience are highly encouraged to apply.Have an excellent understanding of protein biochemistry, experience with methods to study enzyme kinetics and biomolecular interactions.Experience/knowledge in organic chemistry would be desirable (but is not required).Readiness to work with prototype hardware, consumables, and reagents.A broad scientific knowledge (e.g. instrumentation, chemistry, molecular biology, software) is desirable.Be able to demonstrate creative and innovative thinking.Be a team player, possesses excellent communication skills and enjoys working in a dynamic environment in which to develop new skills.What can you expectOur team members are bright, energetic and dedicated - they are the driving force behind our innovation and impact.
