Sr. Technical Program ManagerGeneral DescriptionThis is a key position within the R&D organization, a highly visible role with an opportunity to have a significant impact on Infinera’s long-term growth and success. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of products for Infinera’s GX Optical Line System (OLS), leveraging Outside Design and Manufacturing (ODM) suppliers with support from Infinera’s Engineering teams.Within the product life cycle, you will be responsible to:Support PLM, System Architecture, and Supply Management in early product development planning based on product roadmap and priorities.Drive successful transfer of product requirements to ODM suppliers, in coordination with System Architecture, Engineering, and NPI teams.Work with R&D leaders to secure project resources and budgets for your projectsCoordinate between the ODM supplier and the Infinera R&D teams to prepare detailed program plans that meet the requirements of Infinera’s Product Lifecycle Process (PLP)Manage day-to-day activities of the project with the ODM supplier and Infinera’s engineering team, including management of risks, open issues, actions, deliverable reviews, and change requests to ensure all product requirements are fulfilled with successful hand-off from design to production.Track and report progress of your projects, on a weekly basis, to R&D leadership teams.Drive post-project retrospective reviews with the cross-functional team and document lessons learned.Track project performance metrics for analysis against both short and long-term goalsManage project and team performance to meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.In addition, you may also be responsible to:Identify recurring problems or opportunities for improvement in ODM programs and drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.Develop a strong and positive working relationship with key stakeholders in relevant groups within the company, driven by appropriate responsiveness, effective communication, empathy, and through understanding of their specific needs or interests.Key competencies to be successful in this role include engineering management, project management, and supplier management.Experience RequirementsAt least 8 years of engineering / product development experience, preferably in telecommunication systemsAt least 5 years of experience in project and/or engineering management, including:Resource planning, budgeting, and schedulingPreparing and presenting project status reports to senior managementCollaborating with a diverse global team across multiple departments and sitesExperience managing hardware development projects is strongly preferredExperience in design/development of optical communication products is preferredExperience collaborating with and/or managing ODM suppliers is considered a plusEducational RequirementsBachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering. EE, Physics, or Optical Engineering preferred.PMP or other professional designation is a plus.Skills and AttributesTo be successful in this role you should be capable of immersing yourself in the technical details while also appreciating the broader business context.TechnicalYou possess foundational knowledge of Optical communication systems, including EDF amplifiers, Raman amplifiers, ROADMs, optical switches, and OTDRs.You have at least a basic understanding of key Optical, Electrical, Mechanical, Thermal, and Firmware design principles.You have a solid understanding of the hardware design and development processYou are adept at preparing engineering and design specifications and test plansProject ManagementYou have a proven track record of successful project execution, from concept to productionYou possess a solid understanding of key project management principlesYou have a good working knowledge of various business and collaboration platforms (Agile CM, Jira, SAP, Confluence, SharePoint)CollaborationYou are highly effective at facilitating cross-functional team meetings for completing project tasks, solving issues, making decisions, and reporting statusYou are a confident and concise presenter, with ability to adjust content and style to the target audienceYou have a demonstrated ability to transcend organizational and cultural barriers, bringing team members together from diverse backgrounds to achieve on a common goalInterpersonalYou have a track record as a self-starter, with an innate bias for actionYou are organized with an acute attention to detailYou possess high degree of integrity, with strong moral compass and ethical standardsYou are eager to learn, and you are accepting of constructive feedback for growth and developmentYou have a strong drive for excellence and continuous improvement#LI-JP1Infinera is an equal opportunity employer.
