Job Requisition ID #24WD74953Position OverviewAs an intern, you will collaborate with the Technical Environments team to drive daily workshop operations, maintain machines/spaces and learn how to operate a diverse additive and subtractive equipment portfolio. Shop equipment includes robotics, CNC mill/lathes/routers, waterjet, 3D printers(polymer/metal), lasers, composites, glass, ceramics, finishing, wood and metal.We have physical locations with the latest fabrication capabilities. Each has teams with experience to consult on project design, collaborate on its execution and train on safe machine operation.This role must work onsite at our San Francisco or Boston Technology Center during the internship. ResponsibilitiesYou'll improve and design processes, tooling, assembly fixtures and proceduresContribute to continuous improvement of fabrication processes, workshop safety and equipmentSupport Research and Resident projectsYou'll contribute to shop material stocking, organizing, cleaning, and waste managementTroubleshoot, maintain and repair shop equipmentPartner with the Research and Design Engineers as their support technicianMinimum QualificationsMust be currently enrolled in a full-time, degree seeking program with an expected graduation date in 2025. Preferred programs in science, technology, engineering, or designHands-on experience in a digital fabrication lab, shop, etc.Familiarity with CAD/CAM and digital fabrication technologies such as laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC processesStrong communication skills, with the goals on learning and exploring new fieldsProblem solver who is effective at time managementPreferred QualificationsExperience maintaining industrial workshop equipment and fabrication (safety practices, hand tools, power tools)Prior coding experience using PythonAutodesk Technology CenterOur mission at the Technology Centers is to catalyze new possibilities for making through the power of connection.
