The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for a R&D Engineer with experience working across the device software stack. The ideal candidate will have a track record of working well across teams and collaborating to research, build and maintain complex systems. In this role, you will work closely with hardware and software teams from across the company to help us shape and craft the next generation of connectivity technologies for our platform. Networking, distributed systems and developing with system power and performance in mind will be central to this role. The candidate should be capable of balancing system tradeoffs such as power, latency, and compute, while ensuring maximum privacy, security, and user experience. This position will require the candidate to make use of their fundamental understanding of and interest in connectivity/networking and principles. Their specific duties will vary by project but will generally include performing research, design, analysis, hands-on prototyping, testing, experimentation, and modeling and simulation to address complex questions regarding design, security, and performance of networked products. The candidate needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, operate gracefully under stress, handle multiple assignments in parallel, and be self-driven to be effective in an environment with little overhead. The candidate also needs to show initiative and be able to take ownership of a problem area. Cross-functional collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams is an important aspect of this role. Education & Experience Education & Experience M.S. or Ph.D. preferred in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field Additional Requirements Additional Requirements •R&D or analysis interest and experience •A demonstrated ability to present research findings and recommendations to all levels of stakeholders, including executive management •A demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire familiarity with emergent technologies and software algorithms Experience in one or more of the following: o Wireless networking technologies o Cloud networking fundamentals o Edge computing o Computer Vision o Deep Learning, Machine Learning o Information-Centric Networking / Named Data Networking o Mesh networking o Ad-hoc networking o Hardware offloads •Experience with ARM embedded system development and SoC-level design •Experience with network performance measurement and analysis tools •Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ns-3, etc. Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900.00 and $256,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
