Job Title : BuyerDepartment : supply chain managementRole : Full timeResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and responsibilities:Purchase supply of products/materials.Organize and schedule procurements in a timely manner.Communicate with vendors, clients, customers, team members, and managers to align goals.Develop product level technical specifications for solutions to sales/prebid and project requirements.Compares prices amongst various vendors in order to make sound purchasing decisions.Works within a given budget to purchase goods and services for an organization.Ensures that products are delivered in a timely manner, and that the quality of the goods received is satisfactory.Negotiates with contractors on price, mode of shipping, and delivery time.Checks invoices for accuracy, and authorizes the accounts payable department to issue payment.Evaluates the performance of certain vendors in order to decide whether or not to continue buying from them.Communicate performances and costs to managementInventories items in order to determine which ones need to be purchased.Enters data concerning inventory and order amounts into a computer database.Recommend new processes or systems for improvement; implement new ideas and strategiesTasksSalesSupport sales & proposal function by providing quotes for estimation purpose and also to get back to back agreements where required.ProjectUnderstanding the Project scope, specification, project times and contractual agreements made for back to back agreements with sub suppliers.Understanding project schedule and expedite list of RFQ’s from Project ManagerPreparing detailed procurement plan.Preparation and review of RFQ’s.Expediting quotes from suppliers.Performing Technical and Commercial Bid evaluations.PO placement.Expediting for completion and delivery.Arranging Logistics and custom clearances where required.Clearing Invoices.Participation in project reviews and providing reports to management.Participate in project close-out meetingHSERisk Management:Develop risk management strategies and plans for mitigating risks and capitalizing on opportunities within the sales and application context.Implement and monitor risk controls and measures in sales and application processes to minimize risks and improve outcomes.Continuous Improvement:Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the sales and application team.Identify areas for improvement in sales and application processes and customer service.Implement process improvement initiatives, monitor their effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and customer satisfactionEducation / experienceBE/BTech in Mechanical with 10-13 years of relevant work experience.Key Skills and Abilities:Possesses strong negotiation skills.Has good verbal communication skills.Is timely in following up on contracts and checking on backordered items.Is capable of staying within a given budget.Has good math skills and is quickly able to calculate the cost of goods and services.Is trustworthy and does not abuse authority or misappropriate fundsCompetenciesResult OrientedCooperationLearning ability cognitiveFlexibilityAccuracyJudgementPresentingPlug Power, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
