Summary Posted: Jan 24, 2024 Role Number: 200536556 The Special Projects Group at Apple is currently seeking a sensor characterization engineer for the Sense Architecture team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and owning sensor characterization pipelines, identifying and owning sensor KPIs, evaluating sensor performance at scale for application-specific needs, and tying sensor performance to architectural requirements. You must have experience in sensor physics and statistical analysis, camera experience preferred. You will work closely with cross-functional personnel from platform system teams, autonomous system algorithms teams and sensor hardware teams. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Proficiency in Matlab development is a must. Strong understanding of physics fundamentals driving sensor operation Strong understanding of optical sensor design, KPIs, and performance tradeoffs. Camera experience preferred. Excellent critical analysis, statistical analysis, and logic/reasoning skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent teamwork and leadership skills. Description Description Collaborate with sensor architecture staff, module owners, and other downstream customers to identify sensor KPIs, improve testing coverage and drive sensor analysis. Develop, own, and improve evaluation pipelines for rapidly evaluating sensor performance. Implement and drive large-scale statistical analyses tying sensor performance to application requirements. Interface with internal and external module teams to understand sensor performance and to feed back observations to drive future sensor improvements. Clear communication, documentation, and presentation of measurement results and conclusions to both cross-functional teams and leadership. Education & Experience Education & Experience M.S. or higher in Computer Engineering, Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related field. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
