This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Solutions Test team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.Responsibilities and Duties: Create automation artifacts (scripts, tools, code, libraries, wrappers) to provision Calix networking devices efficiently and in a consistent manner. These artifacts can be stand-alone or developed using Python or internal Calix automation tools using Robot Framework.Document via presentations, wiki entries, emails, and other methods, the process and output to promote the wider use of tools.Review tools and artifacts based on user feedback and make constant improvements.Create a test plan with an aim to measure and report performance characteristics of Calix products as needed.Work well with cross-functional teams (Development and Test) to seek requirements, ask questions, review comments, and improve process and methodologies.Help in conducting unit/functional testing/proof-of-concept testing and developing end-user documentation.Identify and solution process improvement opportunities by identifying issues and risks.Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a college degree program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.Ability to understand basic concepts of Computer Networking (Ethernet, TCP/IP, OSI model, L2 Switching and L3 Routing concepts).Knowledge of working with Linux & Windows Operating systems.Ability to write and debug scripts in Python/Bash script.Basic understanding of software version control – GIT and other tools.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to think and work independently. Analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skillsOrganized; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.Experience in analytical analysis.Ability to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education (i.e. year in school).There are different ranges applied to specific locations.
