Vice President - Chief Privacy Officer As the Chief Privacy Officer (“CPO”), you will be responsible for oversight of the strategic development, implementation, daily operation and overall quality and integrity of our privacy program at an enterprise level including monitoring program compliance, investigation and tracking of incidents and breaches in compliance with local and international privacy laws. Reporting to Chief Legal Officer, you will form part of the Legal Group with team members based in several countries where we have our operations. As you lead the global privacy team, you will be expected to operate in an international environment ensuring compliance with applicable data protection and privacy legislations. About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school Minimum of 10+ years of legal experience with a focus on privacy and information management. Expert knowledge (10+ years) of privacy and data protection laws and practices, with an in-depth understanding of US Federal and state privacy laws and/or GDPR It would be great if you also have . . . Solid understanding of information technologies and data security, and the information services industry. Strong leadership skills and ability to build and lead high-performing teams. Ability to navigate a complex matrix organization and implement enterprise-wide compliance programs and deliver results. Ability to distil complex data into essential elements and communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences both internally and externally. Ability to be a collaborative expert and authority on compliance issues. Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence senior executive leaders, including regulators. What will you be doing in this role? Run a strategic and comprehensive privacy program compliant with U.S. Federal and State laws, GDPR and other international privacy laws that defines, develops, maintains, and implements policies and processes that enable consistent, effective privacy protection practices which minimize risk and ensure the confidentiality, restricted access to personal data of individuals. Serve as our leader for privacy compliance and act as a designated Privacy Spokesperson and Data Protection Officer. Work with our senior leadership team, business, and functional leaders to establish company-wide governance and strategic goals in conjunction with Chief Legal Officer for the company’s privacy program. Ensure the privacy team is monitoring and scanning for developments in data protection and privacy landscape including emerging legislations. Work with product and corporate functions to ensure that privacy by design is implemented in the design, development and implementation of products, services, platforms, systems, and processes. Collaborate with the information security team to ensure alignment between security and privacy compliance programs, including policies, practices, and investigations. Work closely with information security team to establish an ongoing process to track, investigate, and report inappropriate access and disclosure of protected information. Monitor patterns of improper access and/or disclosure of protected information. Oversee privacy risk assessments/analysis, mitigation, and remediation plans on an ongoing basis. Develop, deliver, and oversee ongoing privacy training program for colleagues. Manage all required breach determination and notification processes under applicable breach rules and requirements. Handle escalations on customer and vendor contract negotiations related to privacy issues. Ensure the organization maintains appropriate privacy consent notices, data processing agreements and data transfers in compliance with both domestic and international privacy laws. About the Team Clarivate’s Legal, Risk and Compliance (LRC) organization, includes colleagues in multiple countries around the world. You will have the opportunity to interact not only with members of the LRC organization, but with senior leaders across different functions and segments. As the CPO, you will design and support the implementation of privacy programs to be leveraged across the global organization. Hours of Work This is a full-time position, primarily working core business hours in your time zone, with flexibility to adjust to various global time zones as needed.
