What We’re Looking For:
The Admissions Manager plays a pivotal role in driving student recruitment and managing relationships with university partners and internal stakeholders. Key responsibilities include leading a team of Admissions Counsellors, ensuring adherence to academic and regulatory standards, and optimising student engagement strategies. This role requires effective team management, a strong sales and customer service background, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Team Management
Guide and develop a team of Admissions Counsellors, establishing clear expectations aligned with Student Engagement senior leadership's strategy. Ensure team performance meets and exceeds recruitment goals.
Stakeholder Engagement
Foster relationships with university partners, maintaining regular updates on recruitment activities and pipeline status. Act as the primary liaison for admissions-related matters.
Quality Assurance
Oversee Admissions Counsellor activities to guarantee high-quality student engagement and compliance with institutional policies.
Training and Development
Collaborate with the Learning & Development Team to enhance Admissions Counsellor capabilities, addressing skill gaps and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Data-Driven Management
Utilise reporting tools to analyse team performance, inform decision-making, and uphold program standards.
Operational Expertise
Gain comprehensive knowledge of admissions processes and policies, aiding in the smooth operation of the department.
Miscellaneous Responsibilities
Includes tasks such as participating in recruitment events, administrative duties, and other tasks as required.
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (Honours preferred).
Minimum of 5 years in a sales-oriented role, including at least 1 year managing a medium-sized team (ideally in a similar context).
Familiarity with and proven ability to manage a team using South African Labour Legislation (basic knowledge of the BCEA and LRA).
Strong track record in Senior Enrolment Advisor/Admissions Counselor roles with demonstrable growth towards managerial competencies.
Strong sales and customer service background.
Proficiency in Salesforce and Google Suite.
Proven ability to motivate a team to achieve defined results that exceed goals, objectives and expectations.
Strong leadership skills; ability to maintain a fun, casual, professional and productive team atmosphere.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful, and concise manner.
Ability to develop other people’s potential/talents.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
Other Attributes That Will Help You In This Role:
The role demands adherence to UK business hours, with occasional requirements for weekend engagement based on business needs.
This is a high-octane, result-driven environment; your adaptability and resilience will be key.
Autonomy is a given; proactive problem-solving and upward management are expected.
Teamwork is critical to achieving success in this role. You will need to establish strong relationships with peers and leaders in cross-departmental teams.
The landscape is dynamic; your agility in adapting to changing scenarios will be invaluable.
You will be required to have uncapped, reliable internet connectivity or reliable transport to get to the office.
Physical Requirements:
Since this is a people manager role, you will need to be in the Cape Town office at least twice a week, preferably Tuesdays and Thursdays to spend time on the floor with your team members.
Management Responsibilities:
Directly manage 8-10 Admissions counsellors.
