Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Depth of understanding of the Linux Operating System, standard software, services, and networking protocols. Experience managing and scaling resilient distributed systems on bare metal / private clouds. The ability to design, author, and release code in languages like Python and Go. Acute drive to automate manual operations and to improve them through repeated iteration. Strong sense of ownership and integrity demonstrated through clear communication and collaboration. Experience with deploying, supporting and supervising new and existing services, platforms, and application stacks. Hands-on experience managing a large & diverse Linux fleet with configuration management systems like Puppet. Capability and drive to troubleshoot and problem-solve sophisticated system issues for root cause discovery. Familiarity with microservices architecture and container orchestration with Kubernetes. Experience with managed deployment methodologies, scale testing, and disaster recovery. Description Description Apple Cloud Infrastructure (ACI) is the foundation upon which Apple services run. The Systems Infrastructure team provides system provisioning, configuration management, and core services for ACI’s platform. Working collaboratively with key partners in storage, compute, traffic, and telemetry, our teams’ focus is system provisioning, configuration management, deployment, name resolution, packaging, and access/authorization. Operating at our scale, across multiple geographically dispersed data centers and servicing hundreds of millions of users presents unique challenges. As an SRE in ACI, you'll need to solve these problems using data, teamwork, and your own expertise. SREs in ACI own the full infrastructure stack with both broad and deep responsibilities. The majority of our systems run Linux with a mix of open source, vendor licensed, and internally developed tools, providing all manner of service operation. You'll learn these tools and have opportunities to improve them. We think critically and strive to balance the best solution with the need to get things done for each engineering challenge we face. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
