Do you want to work on software that has a real positive impact on the world?Illumina is looking to grow our Software Development Team in Belgium and seeking a Software Test Engineer, to support our efforts in developing our technology.This role is full time, Hub and Hybrid, with the expectation of working 3 days a week at our Mechelen site in Belgium.Illumina's employee benefits are industry-leading and include flexible time off, private medical insurance, compassion and care time off, leisure travel insurance, pension, employee stock purchasing program, volunteer time off, and much more!Why You As a Software Test Engineer, you will gain familiarity with Illumina’s products and projects, you will apply testing best practices and support the Systems Integration team by writing, maintaining, and executing tests individually and with the help of senior level software test engineers.Working in a diverse team, you will use your excellent problem solving and communication skills to debug software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply and maintain quality standards for firm products whilst developing, modifying and executing software test plans, automated scripts and programs for testing.Scope of Responsibilities:Work together with test engineers in cross-functional teams to deliver the testing effort on multiple applications.Work in a scrum environment with daily standupsWork collaboratively with other software test engineers to automate software test cases within a maintainable test automation framework.Work with software developers, scientists and domain experts in understanding software requirements and translating that to test cases and automated test scripts.Be able to independently implement and execute tests of moderate complexity.Preferred background, skills and experienceGood verbal and written communication and troubleshooting skills.Experience in software testing is preferred, but not required.Basic understanding of biology/genetics/NGS is preferred, but not required.Working experience with object-oriented programming (such as python or Java) is highly desirable.A technical background gained either through education or through experience.Listed responsibilities, skills and requirements are an essential, but not complete, list of the usual duties associated with the position.
