This is a full time, remote Summer Internship that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada.Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Manufacturing Engineering team. In this role, you will be part of a globally dispersed Manufacturing Engineering team that is responsible for manufacturing complex PCBA based products in partnership with world class manufacturers. The award-winning internship program at Calix provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. You’ll learn Calix products and solutions, work across functions and interact with suppliers. We are looking for someone who is passionate about manufacturing and problem solving. This is an exciting opportunity for any aspiring Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing) student to come into a high growth, fast paced environment and get real hands-on experience with our Manufacturing Engineering team. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.Responsibilities and Duties: Review product packaging and research green alternatives that support Calix environmental initiatives.Support manufacturing leader in development of design for repair guidelines.Documentation, instructions/SAI (Special Assembly Instruction) development, review, improvements.Inventory of factory manufacturing tooling/fixturing.Change management, follow through released changes ECO, Deviation, and MCO implementation.Work with supply chain engineering and key internal stakeholders to support the manufacturing of Calix products.Contribute to identifying and developing process improvement opportunities, including identifying issues and mitigating risks.Accompany manufacturing leader for a US factory visit.Qualifications: Ability to understand and apply basic manufacturing product documentation concepts (bills of materials, product data management systems, etc.).Willingness to learn new applications for managing various aspects of supply chain processes.Ability to think and work independently and work remotely.Organized; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.Working towards an undergraduate Engineering degree with a focus in Manufacturing or Industrial engineering.Strong writing, communication, and documentation skills.Team player.Experience in a manufacturing role or project requiring analytical problem solving, critical thinking, and analysis.Detail oriented.Available to work effectively in a remote environment with a high tolerance for ambiguity and fast-changing environments.Microsoft Office software suite experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Ability to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September).Prefer a rising Junior or Senior but will consider a rising Sophomore with experience.Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education (i.e. year in school).There are different ranges applied to specific locations.
