Technical Writer

Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesFocuses on further improving their craftsmanship and extending their skills beyond documenting as directed, in particular:•    Designated writer for a product or product suite.•    Delivers content for online help systems, user guides, and technical manuals as assigned. •    Adheres to and provides input of improvements to department processes and writing standards.•    Provides input to lead writer or manager regarding project scopes, estimates, and completion dates of assigned deliverables against a defined timeline.•    Uses help authoring tool and source-control system to complete specific authoring tasks.•    Collaborates with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders (PD/PMG) to determine necessary content updates. •    Understands product designs that are being implemented.•    Obtains approval of new or revised content by subject matter experts and key contributors to cross-functional teams.•    Collaborates with other technical writers in peer and copy editing to ensure quality.•    Delivers documentation that meets all defined requirements from PD/PMG and warrants product functionality. •    Understands agile software development processes, tools, and techniques; delivers content in an agile way.Secondary Duties and Responsibilities•    Demonstrates high competency in behaviors such as written and verbal communications, teamwork, interviewing skills, organization, and completing complex work. •    Keeps current with and adjusts to new information design strategies and new releases of publishing tools used.•    Provides input to lead writer or manager on software designs to improve overall quality (usability) of the product.•    Assists lead writer or manager in reviewing customer comments on documentation.•    Provides timely status reports to lead writer or manager.•    Monitors and resolves documentation defects in issue tracking tool.•    Understands and uses technology currently in use to complete day-to-day tasks (such as email, chat, web meetings, goal planning, and vacation management).•    Tracks time and effort.  Our ValuesIf you want to know the heart of a company, take a look at their values.
