Hardware Engineer Intern

This internship is based out of our Petaluma, California office. Calix is looking for a Summer intern to join our Hardware Engineering team. In this role, you will be part of a unique and award-winning internship program within the company. The program provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The successful candidate for this position will work within the Intelligent Access Edge (IAE) Systems Products Hardware Development team. You will assist with various tasks relating to the Design, Test and Verification of Calix Hardware designs, which will lead to successful product release of these designs. You will apply learned engineering knowledge and skills in order to help accomplish these tasks.Responsibilities and Duties: Assist Hardware Engineering team in the design, test, and debug of Calix Hardware designsCollect and analyze data in a Hardware lab environmentCreate scripts to aid in lab testing and data measurement and analysisCreate and update Engineering Design and Test ChecklistsCreate and present test reportsQualifications: Currently enrolled in a college degree program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Preference will be given to applicants who are currently in their Junior or Senior year of collegeInquisitive and CreativeExcellent MS Office skills – particularly MS ExcelStrong scripting skills using Python or similar languageStrong working knowledge of fundamental electronic componentsAble to read and understand hardware schematicsWorking knowledge of FPGAs and embedded MCU/CPU designWorking knowledge of embedded SWComfortable working in a hands-on lab environmentWorks well in both individual and team rolesAbility to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September)Compensation will vary based on geographical location within the United States.
