We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to join our global Product Management team! The main purpose of the Product Owner is to partner closely with Product Management and align development with product strategy. You will match and prioritize the features and functionality of the product to obtain maximum performance to the benefit of the end user. As a member of the Product Team, the Product Owner is responsible for the prioritized list of requirements for future product development, writing user stories, making critical decisions on priorities to drive product value, and is the representative of the customer to the development team. If this sounds like an opportunity you are interested in, then we would love to talk to you! About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments.Bachelor’s degree in related field / or equivalent work experience.At least 5 years of experience working in an Agile or Scrum development environment, especially in a Product Owner or Manager role.It would be great if you also had . . .Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as economics, business or engineering.Fluency in an additional language.Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and CRM tools such as JIRA and Salesforce.Previous experiences with survey tools.Project Management or Business Analyst certification.Knowledge of Pragmatic Marketing and/or 280 Group.Experience with best practice agile scrum development and lean startup principles.Knowledge of or experience working in Academic Library marketplace, higher education publishing, and/or education technology.What will you be doing in this role?Responsible for end-to-end launch of products.Works with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders in different locations, including design/user experience, engineering, support and user enablement, led by product managers.Works in an Agile environment and continuously reviews the business needs, refines priorities, outlines milestones and deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks.Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.Prioritizes and maintains the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders with overall feasibility, priority, and resourcing.Leads the product functional design process based on an intimate knowledge of the platform and users.Develops and maintains appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance post-launch to evaluate future investment.About the TeamThe Books Product Owner team are a key part of the wider Books team, working with development teams & other colleagues to deliver new features & functionality and updates across our platforms. The team is comprised of colleagues across the US and the globe, all committed to helping users in education institutions and libraries around world achieve their goals.Hours of WorkThis is a full-time, permanent position based in UK. This role will require hybrid working from either our London or Cambridge offices (2-3 days per week in office, rest of week remote).
