We recognize the power of a forward-thinking People function. As an HR Generalist at Apartment List, you’ll be a key player in our organization’s people strategy. In this multifaceted role, you will oversee a broad range of HR functions, including managing employee benefits, payroll, performance review cycles, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. You’ll be the primary support for our A-Listers, offering guidance and assistance throughout their journey with us.
Your role is crucial in both understanding and enhancing our people operations function, and in nurturing a workplace culture that resonates with our core values. Reporting directly to the Director, People Business Partner, you’ll engage in a diverse set of tasks – from collaborating closely with employees and guiding them through company policies and procedures to managing complex HR processes.
With your strong HR experience and background, you are expected to drive operational excellence and initiate transformative, people-centered initiatives. Your contribution will be pivotal in making Apartment List a hub for talent and innovation, where our A-Listers can thrive and excel.
Here’s what you’ll do as part of the team:
Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, providing support and guidance throughout the employee lifecycle
Proactively identify and recommend enhancements to HR programs and processes to improve efficiency and the employee experience
Support the HRBP team and contribute to HR team projects and assignments as needed
Responsible for the administration of employee benefits including health, dental, vision, and other perks. Oversee the annual open enrollment process, act as the primary liaison with benefit brokers, and provide ongoing support for employees
Assist in the onboarding and offboarding process ensuring a smooth transition for all employees
Manage the annual performance review cycles, including communications, training, and responding to ad-hoc employee inquiries
Maintain and update HRIS and employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Oversee the leaves of absence program, ensuring a smooth and compliant process
Update company policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational values and legal compliance
Here are the skills you need to be successful:
HR Experience: 3+ years of experience in an HR role, preferably as an HR Generalist/Operations with a strong understanding of benefits, leave of absence and HR best practices
Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity, building processes from scratch and thriving in a fast-paced environment
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with all levels within the organization
Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze and solve complex problems. Effective in managing challenging situations and adept at making timely decisions
Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex processes and maintain accuracy
HRIS Proficiency: Familiarity with HRIS systems with experience in ADP, CultureAmp, or similar platforms preferred
Here's the Pay Range:
We carefully consider a variety of factors to determine compensation for each position, including the role, level, and work. The compensation ranges for this position vary based on location.
In a Zone 1 location, the base salary range is ($78,000 - $98,000).
In a Zone 2 location, the base salary range is ($70,000 - $90,000).
In a Zone 3 location, the base salary range is ($62,000 - $78,000).
Please note, the compensation details reflect base salary only and do not include equity, benefits, and perks that we offer.
We also rely on market indicators along with considering your work location, job related skills, experience and relevant education and training, to determine compensation that is fair and competitive for you. Apartment List will consider paying compensation near the higher of the range in exceptional circumstances, where candidates have the experience, credentials or expertise that would warrant such consideration. It is always our goal to hire exceptional talent and we would be happy to share more about compensation during the hiring process.
