Must close the sale on products, systems and/or services. May generate prospective customers through cold calling and may qualify and follow up with sales leads. Sales can be made through multichannel, inbound and/or outbound sales activities. Focuses on acquiring new customers and retaining and growing an existing installed base of customers. Minimal business travel or work outside office required. Requires application of in-depth technical knowledge of products, systems and services (may include contract documentation). May be responsible for large, diverse, complex territories and/or products. This role is overlay to the field sales force, typically supporting the initiatives of the field sales organization and carrying an individual or team quota that is shared with the field. Keeps up-to-date knowledge of the industry, as well as the competitive posture of the organization, and prepares activity and forecast reports as requested. Has thorough knowledge of company products, systems and services. May direct customers to website or other company resources for information. May act as sole sales representative for assigned territory, industry, accounts, and/or products. May establish and maintain relationships with channel partners. Represents the organization to the customer and the customer to the organization in all sales-oriented activities.Changes to individual responsibilities may occur due to business needs and other related duties may be assigned.Preferred Experiential Background: 2+ years of experience in a genomics/life science laboratory, sales or a related field with customer-facing experience.Knowledge of genomics, and related applications to allow for a better understanding of the broad variation of customer applications to uncover sales potential.Conducts presentations effectively, professionally and comfortably to customers/peers/management.Highly self-motivated, independent, and successful individual who enjoys a challenging and dynamic work environment, and who approaches tasks with urgency and in a detail-oriented manner. Works autonomously and receives little instruction on day-to-day work/new assignments. Highly adaptable individual, who is a quick learner and has a willingness to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively.Team player with exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. Builds productive working relationships internally and externally.Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.Determines a course of action based on guidelines. Modifies processes and methods as required. Job Responsibilities: Provides operational support for Commercial Development-facilitated initiatives and partnerships, including account creation, quote generation and order tracking.Monitors and assesses market, product and funding trends, and communicates key findings pertinent to the competitive and funding landscape to the team.Establishes and executes on strategies to identify new markets, to obtain new customers and maintain/grow existing customer accounts in order to meet and exceed revenue goals, including the identification of new funding opportunities and recently awarded researchers.Makes outbound contact to existing and prospective customers to identify sales opportunities.Responds to inbound requests to triage customer needs (quotes, product information, and price).Acts as a support to the field sales team to ensure customers’ demands are responded to.Assists with workshops, conventions, seminar series and other marketing activities as required.             Education:Bilingual (French and English) required (read, write, and speak)BA/BS in Biology/Genetics, requiredMS in Biology/Genetics, preferredAt Illumina, we strive to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace by cultivating an environment in which everyone contributes to our mission.
