About the Role:
Upgrade is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our New Initiatives team and focus on leading the user experience of our Checking and Savings products. You’ll partner with Product on projects like money movement, our new customer funnel, and more. This role is perfect for someone interested in ownership and working on a high-interaction customer facing experience. You should be comfortable in an agile and iterative environment where the focus is on continuously improving our experiences vs redesigning them every year. You can take the lead and are highly collaborative. You are a self-motivated, detail-oriented craftsman, able to work efficiently and effectively with other designers, product managers, engineers, and marketers. You can concept, design, and present solutions that solve user and business problems, delivering measurable outcomes for the team.
Please note that this is a hybrid role is based in our San Francisco office with onsite workdays on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as for company events. We will not convert this role to remote in the future.
What You'll Do:
Collaborate with product, marketing, and engineering to mold concepts into flows and flows into prototypes that we test, build and ship often
Work with qualitative research and user data to validate concepts
Think about design as a system, contributing to and maintaining our design system in order to influence quality and efficiency for all our teams and products
Help shape the internal design process and the culture of the growing design team
What We Look For:
4+ years professional hands-on Product Design experience, working with Product and Engineering teams
Proficiency with Figma
Ability to communicate design rationale to internal teams and other stakeholders
A strong user-centric mindset
Problem defining and solving mentality
A passion for UX design and enthusiasm for learning
Understanding of design principles and an ability to intentionally design logical, clean UI
A solid portfolio demonstrating passion and excellence in product design
A degree in UCI, UX, Interaction Design, or related field is preferred
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Interest or experience in digital finance/banking
Enthusiasm to come to the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as company events
Nice to Have:
Expertise in mobile app design (iOS and Android)

The compensation range of this position in San Francisco, CA is USD $120,000 - $150,000 annually plus equity and benefits. Within this range, an individual's base pay will be dependent on a variety of factors, including without limitation, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Upgrade has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States and Canada, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range could vary depending on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location.
