This position requires an interest in market dynamics and competitive behavior, negotiation and pricing, manufacturing processes, and risk mitigation. Operations Product Development (OPD) The OPD team serves as the “one-stop shop” to advise the development teams on operational, cost, and supply chain issues. Operations Product Managers understand key technologies from a cost, supply chain, and technical perspective, manage product cost based on targets, partner closely with GSMs to meet these targets, and develop the Supplier Plan of Record for each new product. Materials Program Manager (MPM) MPMs are the crucial interface between Supply Demand Management, Global Supply Management, New Product and Sustaining Operations teams, and Contract Manufacturers. MPMs influence and run supply chain activities by working directly with these partners to optimize supply constraints in light of demand priorities, factory capacity, logistics requirements, quality challenges, and materials flow throughout Apple’s multi-tier supply chain. MPMs man- age supply availability throughout the entire product life cycle ensuring supply optimization and minimizing excess and obsolete inventory. Job Description Develop a multifaceted understanding of the commodity landscape to forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competitive forces. Identify changes in buyer and supplier power within core materials markets and use industry dynamics to Apple’s advantage. Effectively work with suppliers to negotiate optimal terms for sourcing. Understand the trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality in order to strike agreements that meet Apple’s performance criteria and secure long term supply continuity. Collaborate across the Apple organization to ensure business objectives are met. Rapidly synthesize and communicate findings to senior leaders and to actively identify potential supply issues that can affect product strategy. Optimize global supply chain performance through cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking. Develop an in-depth understanding of valuable manufacturing processes and costs, reverse logistics, and market intelligence, and apply this knowledge to influence Apple’s future product roadmap and sourcing decisions. Assess and mitigate risks to the business. Handle disruptions in real time with the support of an international team. Education & Experience Education & Experience - Currently pursuing MBA or Master's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field. Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $119,900 and $181,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
